Year 2000
At Presidential,
we have been fine-tuning all of our "mission critical" computer systems
to make sure that when the calendar ticks over from the 20th to the 21st
century there will be no interruption in your banking services. Our Year
2000 date change preparedness has been checked, rechecked and tested by
Presidential employees and consultants and by our Federal
regulators.
In addition to examining our own Y2K preparedness, we are testing the readiness
of our business partners that we rely on for vital services.
There can be no guarantees that the Year 2000 will come and go without problems. According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, "...efforts to solve Year 2000 are best described as risk mitigation. Success in the effort will have been achieved if the number and seriousness of any technical failures is minimized, and they are quickly identified and repaired if they do occur."
At Presidential we are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure we minimize the impact of any problems on our customers. We encourage you to bring your Year 2000 banking questions and concerns to us. E-mail us at email@presidential.com or contact one of our branch locations.
Common Sense Y2K tips
Beware of Y2K Scams!
Never respond to unsolicited requests for any personal or financial data.
Call them information highwaymen, millennium bandits, Y2K grifters or just plain swindlers. No matter what you call them, increasing numbers of con artists are preying on consumer Y2K fears to part you from your money. Their favorite "robbery tools" are the telephone and the internet. And the sad fact is, the closer we get to the Year 2000, the more of these schemes you can expect to see.
The best way to avoid these swindlers is to never respond to any unsolicited request for personal or financial data, such as your social security number, any bank account numbers or ATM or debit card PIN's or passwords.
Here are a few scams that have been reported:
One of the best ways to avoid becoming the victim of fraud is to verify the credentials of the caller before providing any personal or financial information. If an unsolicited caller you don't personally know claims to be calling from your bank, call us or check them out with your state or local consumer protection office. If the individual is offering a service, such as making your business's computers Y2K compliant, ask for reference or check with your local Better Business Bureau.
If you suspect a scam, report it immediatly to your state Attorney General's office. And remember, the safest place for your money is in a bank, where your deposits are insured up to $100,000 by Uncle Sam.
